Insertable sensors for large-diameter and transmission mains.
Large-diameter and long-run transmission mains often defeat surface acoustic methods — the signal simply doesn't reach the surface clearly enough. Insertable hydrophone arrays attach inside the line through existing fittings and tow through the main, capturing the leak signature directly inside the water column. We perform these inspections for water utilities and industrial facilities with mains too long, deep or large for conventional correlation. Deliverables include the leak locations on a referenced site plan plus the raw acoustic data for engineering review.
Acoustic Detection is a sub-division of Leak.ca, the Greater Vancouver leak detection company trusted since 1999. Every site visit is delivered by certified technicians using calibrated equipment, with documented findings formatted for insurance, engineering and procurement use.
We don't sell remediation. Our role is independent detection and assessment — the data you and your professional team work from.
Hydrophone is the best choice for mains 200 mm and larger, or runs longer than what correlation can cover.
No — the inspection happens with the main in service.
Slow enough to listen — typically under 0.5 m/s, paced by the flow.
